Peas In Deutschland

P has moved to Germany! This is a place to share with loved ones the pleasures, frustrations, and photographs of my adventures, leavened by talk of meals eaten and drinks drunk.

weihnachtsmarkt

weihnachtsmarkt = christmas market = FUN!
(yes, that's a ferris wheel, viewed from the library at the max planck institute.)
the christmas market started here yesterday, and it is incredible! p and i took a little tour of it today amidst our regular saturday shopping. it mostly consists of lots of little wooden booths peddling all manner of wares and foods. and there are rides too! it's a lot like a carnival, or the county fair (but without the dairy barn or tractor pull). and i guess it lasts from now until christmas. holy crap!
(greeting from the bonn christmas market)

Do they have nice hand-made Christmas ornaments?
Looks like so much fun.
I am sure Christmas shopping is lot more fun there than visiting the malls and stores here.
Apparently folks in NY woke up at 4:00 am the day after Thanksgiving to visit Macy's in Herald Square for the best sales and bargains.
People do get crazy and desperate to find the right gift!
Love,
M

Seems like they must have some nice ornaments, but we haven't seen any yet. We'll keep a lookout.

And Dave, just you wait - there's some big Christmas market action in store for you (in Cologne, no less)!
